Party Line: Pumped up for 2016

It’s hard to believe 2016 is here already. You’re likely still recovering from the holidays, both the sales season and otherwise, and have already turned your attention toward making 2016 a successful year.

Party & Paper Retailer is here to help you do just that. After all, our business is helping your business.

I’m especially excited about the January issue. Not only is it our biggest issue of the year, it’s one heavily focused on the industry’s biggest holiday of the year — Halloween. These pages are chocked full of features on your fellow party-supply and costume retailers, stories about products you sell and informational pieces on how to better manage and promote your store.

We have not one, but two of our popular Shop Talk features. One is on Beyond Costumes, which owner Yon Zweibon purchased 15 years ago “sort of on a whim.” (That was gutsy, Yon.) Today, she has an inventory of 20,000 costumes. We also take a look at Wally’s Party Factory, which, with 27 locations, is the largest independently owned party store chain in the country.

We examine the Halloween that just passed and look ahead to the one retailers have to start getting ready for now. There are products — lots of products — including costumes, candy, favors, everyday party supplies and more.

One area I particularly enjoy sharing, and I hope you find useful, are our management pieces, which include ways to goal-plan and execute, how to get good PR, ways to improve social media engagement and tips on tracking sales statistics.

Getting this issue together got us energized for the New Year. We hope reading it does the same for you.
