Low Lights

Products to boost glow party sales

By Sam Ujvary | sujvary@greatamericanpublish.com

For kids — and some adults — glow parties are all the rage these days. A simple idea that stemmed from a product line that has been around for years, it’s a wonder why this fun theme hasn’t been around longer. Whether it’s a fraternity rager, tween birthday party or a bar/bat mitzvah, throwing a glow party is a great way to spruce up an otherwise average gathering (fully lit parties are so 2016).

It’s a rather easy task, setting up for even a last-minute glow party. Grab a handful of products that fit the theme and focus them around the centerpiece: a black light. You can purchase black lights or black light bulbs for relatively cheap, and the result is illuminating. In addition to some unique products like Ceaco’s glow-in-the-dark puzzles — perfect for décor — and Play Visions’ Sands Alive glow sand, other staple items include fluorescent pens and paper, bright or neon-colored clothing and accessories, and face paint for a fun activity. UK-based Paintglow has been reaping the benefits of this recently booming theme with its range of UV reactive and glow-in-the-dark products. And its paint products are fully compliant with the EU Cosmetic directive, making it safe for everyone.

Setting up a display to show your customers this idea is fairly simple as well. Hang black craft paper from the wall, set out some metallic and neon pens and markers, paint and brightly colored apparel and accessories, and watch sales increase. Since there are so many options for these parties, helping customers put the whole idea together is what they’ll be looking for.
