The dog days of summer have come to an end, which means Halloween, of course! Rubie’s Pet Shop Boutique -- a division of Halloween powerhouse, Rubie’s Costume Company -- is pleased to announce the 27th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade as the main sponsor. At Noon Saturday, Oct. 21, thousands of costumed canines and spectators will march on Tompkins Square Park to participate in the country’s largest Halloween Costume Parade for dogs. This year, they will be competing for thousands of dollars in prizes, including Hamilton tickets on Broadway for “Best in Show”, and naturally, bragging rights for the year. All proceeds go to the N.Y.C. Department of Parks & Recreation for the maintenance and upkeep of the newly restored Tompkins Square Dog Run.

The Tompkins Square Dog Run is the largest dog run in New York City. All donations will be contributed to the N.Y.C. Parks Department for the maintenance and upkeep of the dog park. The tradition of an annual dog run Halloween parade began in Tompkins Square in the 1980s and has spawned similar events around the city. Dogs wishing to compete for prizes should arrive anytime between 12-2. Prizes are awarded during two rounds, with judges crowning the 10 best from each before choosing an overall winner for “Best in Show."
