Petition to move Halloween to final Saturday of October gaining steam

An online petition to permanently move Halloween from Oct. 31 to the final Saturday of October is gaining steam. The petition, on the platform, currently has more than 27,000 signatures, most of which have been made within the past few days. New survey finds average American will spend $185 on Halloween, led by candy

LendEDU conducted a survey on how much Americans will spend on Halloween this year, and it’s not chump change. According to the recent survey, LendEDU’s findings concluded the average American is going to spend $185.50 on Halloween, up about 9 percent from a similar survey done last year. Halloween spending expected to reach $9 billion again

Once again, Americans are looking forward to splurging on their favorite candy, costumes and decorations during the Halloween season. According to the National Retail Federation’s annual survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, total spending for Halloween is expected to reach $9 billion, the second highest in the survey’s 14-year history. Halloween spending isn’t just on the rise in the U.S., it’s also increasing in the U.K. Recent research by Mintel estimates spending in the U.K. will reach approximately £320 million, reported Progressive Party Europe.
